18.9% increase in foreign buyers!!

Spanish Ministry of housing on 29.8.06 there was an increase of foreign property buyers of 18.9% in the first three months of this year compared to the same period last year who have bought a total of 31.342 properties in Spain. Leading this increase of foreign sales was the Valencian Community with 8.879 representing 24.02%, which was followed by Cataluña with 5.778, Andalucía 4.028, Madrid 3.899, and Murcia 2.219, (Murcia is another region which is on the move as it has just released a vast amount of land for industry, to attract 6.000 industrial businesses to the area) etc.. More than two thirds of the properties sold were re-sale with the rest made up of new builds. As these figures are published by a government body then surely we should take the following quote by Benjamin Disraeli with a pinch of salt?

More statistics: According to new independent research from HIFX Spain remains the top getaway destination with 46% of Brits aiming to buy here for its lifestyle, which comes as rather a surprise. Does this mean that we Brits place more importance on lifestyle than investment? As estate agents we are always asked for a good investment!
