House prices in the Valencian Community increase 18.3%.

The price per square metre of free, new and second hand houses, increased 18.3% in the Valencian Community during the first 4 months of this year, according to the report by the Observatorio de Mercado de Construcción y Vivienda del Instituto Tecnológico de la Construcción (Aidico).The biggest increase took place in the province of Valencia, with a 21.1% increase, followed by Alicante, with a 16.3%, and Castelló with 15.2%, informed sources of the organization. Specifically the prices of new houses grew 18.1% in the Valencian Community, in the first 3 months of 2004, whereas second hand houses increased by 18,5%. The province of Valencia has registered the "biggest" increases in used and new houses, with a growth of 20.8% for new and 21.2% in the case of second hand houses, according to the report. In addition, the Observatory of Aidico emphasized that in this period, the price of the protected house, new and used, registered an interannual increase of 3.1% in the Community.
According to the report, during the month of January, the number of mortgaged urban properties in this region has been of 19.959. Of these units, 13.971 are houses, 382 lots and the rest to other types of urban property.
